kings learn to swim facility, christchurch (sprung structure)

Kings Swim School had outgrown their current facility in Upper Riccarton, and required a high-performance, cost-effective solution to enable expansion into the Christchurch West learn to swim market. CREATE partnered with Property Developer Gan Yu to develop an innovative solution utilising new construction technology including the first fully enclosed Sprung Structure, a high-performance tensioned membrane structural system, with a very high level of thermal insulation, from North America.

High levels of internal environmental amenity relative to comparable commercial learn to swim facilities was achieved through integration of a central daylight strip, acoustic control, and full climate control. The sprung enclosure and pool tanks are highly durable, and the pool water systems are specified to achieve a high level of water quality. The result is low capital cost, low operational cost, low life cycle costings, for high performance,

Key Features:

  • New Zealand’s first Sprung structure

  • Full HVAC (climate control)

  • 25m x 13.5m Lap Pool, with 25m x 4m Learn to Swim Pool

  • Change cubicles, together with separate change spaces
