SCULPTURES / ART

CREATE has enjoyed working collaboratively with artists to help make their designs a reality.

Te Kanohi O Te Manu - The Eye Of The Bird, Hobsonville Park, Auckland
CREATE provided structural design for the playground sculpture designed and built by Philipp Meier. At 10 metres high, the sculpture, which takes the form of a pied shag or cormorant, is the largest that industrial designer Philipp Meier has ever built. The sculpture's large size is necessitated by the fact that it's interactive – children can climb stairs inside the bird to look out of its eyes. There's also a slide which comes out at the tail.

Tale of Southland (Murihiku), South Invercargill

CREATE provided structural design for the whale tale sculpture designed by David Trubridge.

"To symbolize strength and growth, we modelled the tail flick of a great whale, suggesting the propelled, forward momentum of the region” - David Trubridge

Sleeping Giant, Havelock North

CREATE provided structural design for the sleeping giant canopy designed by David Trubridge, as part of the Havelock North Domain upgrade. Weighing 1.2 tonnes and approximately 12 metres long, the finished structure shades an area looking over the new playground. It was designed to reflect the outline of Te Mata Peak - Te Mata-o-Rongokako.
